In the Kapaklı district of Tekirdağ, a 14-year-old MESEM student was beaten with kicks, slaps, and punches by the business operator at an auto repair shop he went to for vocational training, on the grounds that he did not come to work. While the student's mother filed a complaint against the operator, the moments when the student was beaten were captured on the workplace's security camera.

In the Kapaklı district of Tekirdağ, MESEM 9th-grade student F.K. began training at an auto repair shop in the Kapaklı Industrial Site in 19 Mayıs Neighborhood in order to learn a profession and receive applied vocational training.

BEATEN WITH KICKS AND SLAPS

According to the allegation, 14-year-old F.K. did not go to school on September 24 due to a deficiency in his school uniform. The next day, the operator Abdukadir K. beat F.K., who went to the auto repair shop where he was receiving applied training, on the grounds that he had not gone to school and had not come to the workplace either. The moments when Abdulkadir K. beat student F.K. with kicks, slaps and punches were reflected second by second on the workplace security camera.

MOTHER WHO WATCHED THE FOOTAGE FILED A COMPLAINT

F.K. obtained the security camera footage of the moments he was beaten and had his mother, Kadriye Enez Koyuncu, watch it. Seeing that her son had been severely beaten, Koyuncu went to the hospital, obtained an assault report, and then filed a complaint against the auto repair shop operator Abdulkadir K., who had beaten her son.

Kadriye Enez Koyuncu said that she went to the Kapaklı Police Department, CİMER, the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, the Ministry of National Education, and the Ministry of Family and Social Services and filed the necessary complaints, and that she had not yet received any information indicating that the prosecutor's office had taken any action against the person who beat her son.

“HE WAS ALSO SUBJECTED TO MISTREATMENT BY OTHER PEOPLE AT THE WORKPLACE AND BY CHILDREN”

While Mother Koyuncu recounted what she had experienced in the video she recorded, she said in the complaint petition she submitted that no reason could justify violence against a child. In her complaint petition, Koyuncu used the following statements: “It has been learned by us that my son was previously subjected to torment, bullying and mistreatment by other people at the same workplace as well as by the operator, and by children. I request that these incidents also be investigated, that the persons involved in the incident be identified and that the necessary procedures be carried out. My son F.K. has been seriously negatively affected psychologically due to these incidents. I am seriously concerned about the psychological effects that a child who is still only 14 years old being subjected to repeated physical violence, bullying and mistreatment in an environment where he is present in order to learn a profession and receive education has had and may have on my child in the future. Therefore, I request that the incident be evaluated not only in terms of the workplace or MESEM practices, but also within the scope of physical violence against the child, mistreatment and the protection of the child; that my son F.K.'s psychological condition be evaluated by relevant experts, that necessary psychological and psychosocial support be provided if needed, and that necessary protective and supportive measures regarding the protection of the child be evaluated.”
