This morning, the 5th wave operation was launched as part of the operation against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB). Detention warrants were issued for 47 people on 7 separate criminal charges in 4 different investigations.
AYKUT ERDOĞDU DETAINED IN THE FIRST INVESTIGATION
In the first investigation, former CHP deputy Aykut Erdoğdu, Ağaç A.Ş. General Manager Ali Sukas, and former Beylikdüzü Deputy Mayor Veysel Erçevik were detained due to bribery allegations related to a contract made by İBB subsidiary İSTAÇ.
NAMES OF AVCILAR AND GAZIOSMANPAŞA MAYORS MENTIONED IN THE SECOND INVESTIGATION
The second investigation was conducted primarily centered around Beşiktaş Municipality. In the expanded investigation based on the statements given by Aziz İhsan Aktaş, who is detained on charges of being the "leader of a criminal organization," a total of 27 people were detained, including İBB Deputy Secretary General Erdal Celal Aksoy, ISFALT General Manager Burak Korzay, Gaziosmanpaşa Mayor Hakan Bahçetepe, Avcılar Mayor Utku Caner Çaykara, Ceyhan Mayor Kadir Aydar, Seyhan Mayor Oya Tekin, Beşiktaş Deputy Mayor Ozan İş, and Avcılar Deputy Mayor Erhan Daka.
THE THIRD INVESTIGATION REGARDING THE 2019 OCTOBER 29 CELEBRATIONS
The third investigation covers the allegations of corruption related to the direct procurements made by Beşiktaş Municipality for the 2019 October 29 celebrations. In this context, actions were taken against Beşiktaş Deputy Mayor Alican Abacı, the then Beşiktaş Culture Director and current Avcılar Deputy Mayor Mehmet Mandacı, and Büyükçekmece Deputy Mayor Rıza Can Özdemir. Out of a total of 11 suspects, 9 were detained.
HASAN AKGÜN'S NAME MENTIONED IN THE FOURTH INVESTIGATION
Finally, in the investigation conducted against Büyükçekmece Municipality, Mayor Hasan Akgün, Deputy Mayor Ömer Kazancı, and three public officials were detained on charges of benefiting construction companies through coercion.
PUBLIC DAMAGE INCURRED
It was stated that within the scope of the investigations, payments for entitlements and zoning permits in municipalities were made in exchange for material benefits, that some mayors followed irregular methods in financing during election processes, and that public resources were harmed through shell companies.
