Former AK Party Member of Parliament Hüseyin Kocabıyık announced his expulsion on his social media account. After the expulsion process, Kocabıyık shared a photo taken with Erdoğan at Pınarhisar Prison and said, "Those who have brought being an AK Party member to the level of shame should be ashamed."
The former İzmir Deputy Hüseyin Kocabıyık, who was referred to the AK Party Central Disciplinary Board with a request for "definitive expulsion" due to his harsh criticisms regarding the detention of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, announced today on his social media account that he has been expelled from the party.
Kocabıyık reacted to the expulsion process by sharing a photo taken with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Pınarhisar Prison in 1999. In his post, Kocabıyık stated, "Most of those who made the expulsion decision for me today were probably in elementary school back then."
"THOSE WHO MADE THE EXPULSION DECISION TODAY WERE IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL BACK THEN"
Kocabıyık included the following statements in his post:
"This is Pınarhisar Prison. In this photo, there is Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who was subjected to lawlessness and injustice that day. Erol Olçok is there, Hayati Yazıcı is there, there is a guard standing tall above us, and I am there. Most of those who made the expulsion decision for me today were probably still elementary school students back then. Those who have carried being an AK Party member to a line that is shameful should be ashamed!"
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
Former AK Party Deputy Hüseyin Kocabıyık had used harsh expressions towards his party and President Erdoğan following the detention of Ekrem İmamoğlu on March 19. In a post on his social media account, Kocabıyık said:
"Recep Tayyip Erdoğan… Was this the place for the future? Did we fight for these? Did we suffer in courts for years for this? You actually staged a coup against yourself, and you don't even know it!"
With this outburst, Kocabıyık came to the agenda and was referred to the AK Party Central Disciplinary Board with a request for "precautionary definitive expulsion" on March 22.
