The Beykoz Mayor Alaattin Köseler and 11 other suspects were arrested for the crimes of 'interfering with a tender' and 'establishing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime, membership, and assistance.' While the investigation is ongoing, the defense of the Chief of Staff Veli Gümüş has emerged. In his statement, Gümüş claimed that İmamoğlu and his team set a trap for Alaattin Köseler.
The investigation initiated by the Beykoz Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the "manipulation of the tender" and "establishing, membership, and aiding an organization for the purpose of committing a crime," in which 12 suspects, including Beykoz Mayor Alaattin Köseler, have been arrested, is ongoing.
Former Beykoz Mayor Alaattin Köseler, Chief of Staff Veli Gümüş, and Deputy Mayor Fidan Gül have been arrested and sent to prison. While the investigation continues, the defense made by Chief of Staff Veli Gümüş at the Beykoz Criminal Court of Peace has emerged.
"THE OPERATION OF THE İBB TEAM AGAINST US"
In his defense, Gümüş stated, "I reiterate my previous defenses on this matter. Fidan Gül's statements are not true. I know Onur Demirci and Mustafa Karadağ by face. The meeting of these individuals with Fidan Gül in Mr. Alaattin's office did not occur. These are Fidan Gül's fabrications. All of this is an operation against us by the Beylikdüzü and İBB team."
INTERNAL PARTY STRUGGLE
In his statement, Gümüş claimed there was an internal party struggle, saying, "They are making inappropriate accusations and statements against a Mayor who was born and raised in Beykoz. They are doing this in collaboration with individuals in the Beykoz Municipal Council who act with the Beylikdüzü team. In short, we can say it is an internal struggle within the party."
Gümüş, stating that İmamoğlu imposed his own team on the Beykoz Municipality, claimed, "Bilgehan Murat Miniç, who is the Deputy Mayor, has taken a stance against Mr. Alaattin and has formed a group. Ekrem İmamoğlu has imposed his own team on the Beykoz Municipality. Tonguç Çoban and Yavuz Saltık, who are advisors to Ekrem İmamoğlu, personally called me right after the local elections and threatened me."
"İMAMOĞLU AND HIS TEAM SET A TRAP"
Continuing his statement, Gümüş said:
"The current Mayor, Özlem Vural Gürzel, was reporting all the news in Beykoz to the İBB team together with Fidan Gül. I can say that the Beykoz Municipality was almost divided in two this way. Therefore, they may have harbored animosity against us and made false accusations. Since she is the Deputy Mayor, the tenders that took place are under the responsibility of Fidan Gül. While I was in office at the Municipality, we underwent an inspection during that period, and I personally requested that everything be audited by writing an official letter to ensure that nothing irregular occurred; I did not engage in any irregular activities. I believe that Ekrem İmamoğlu and his team set a trap for me and Mr. President."
