Turkey woke up to the news of an operation against Can Holding. A total of 121 companies, including Habertürk, Show TV, and Bloomberg HT, were seized by the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF). Additionally, it was claimed that the criminal organization, by operating under the leadership of Kemal Can and Mehmet Şakir Can, established numerous companies in the same fields of activity, making it difficult to monitor and follow up, distributed responsibility among organization members by making changes in the boards of directors, and aimed to evade legal sanctions in this way. Furthermore, it was determined that cash capital increases were made in companies that had no commercial activity, that the source of the capital increases was shown as debts to partners, that these debts did not reflect the truth, and that the amounts seen in the debts to partners account were reinvested in the company under the Asset Peace Law, and that these transactions were characterized as the inclusion and laundering of income obtained from crime in violation of the law's purpose.
THEY LAUNDERED ILLEGAL PROFITS BY DIRECTING THEM TO DIFFERENT SECTORS In the expanded investigation based on the findings obtained from MASAK reports, it was determined that the criminal organization expanded its commercial volume through illegal income obtained from crimes such as qualified fraud, smuggling, and violations of tax procedural law, and that company acquisitions, share transfers, and investment activities in strategic sectors such as education, media, finance, and energy were financed directly with criminal proceeds, aiming to both increase the organization's economic power and gain legitimacy in the eyes of the public. Again, as a result of the holistic evaluation of the financial movements identified by MASAK reports, it was determined that the suspects were laundering the profits they obtained illegally by directing them to different sectors and trying to gain a false reputation and power in the economic life.
121 COMPANIES INCLUDING HABERTÜRK AND SHOW TV WERE SEIZED In the operation organized by the Istanbul Police Department this morning within the scope of the investigation, the assets of 121 companies under Can Holding were seized, and a trustee was appointed to the company by the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF).
