In the fifth wave of the corruption operation targeting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB), former CHP Member of Parliament Aykut Erdoğdu, Beylikdüzü Deputy Mayor Veysel Erçevik, and General Manager of Ağaç A.Ş. Ali Sukas were arrested.

In the investigation of corruption against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the procedures of 38 suspects who were detained within the scope of the investigation into the criminal organization allegedly led by Aziz İhsan Aktaş, as well as investigations related to the Büyükçekmece Municipality and the Beşiktaş Municipality Directorate of Culture and Social Affairs, have been completed.



REQUEST FOR ARREST OF 30 PEOPLE



The suspects, whose procedures were completed at the Financial Crimes Unit of the Istanbul Police Department, were transferred to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan after undergoing a health check at Bayrampaşa State Hospital. 30 suspects were then referred to the court with a request for arrest.

Former CHP Deputy Aykut Erdoğdu, Beylikdüzü Municipality Deputy Mayor Veysel Erçevik, and General Manager of Ağaç A.Ş. Ali Sukas were arrested after appearing before the judge.



CORRUPTION INVESTIGATION AGAINST İBB



Within the scope of four separate corruption investigations conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a total of 33 suspects, including former CHP Deputy Aykut Erdoğdu, Avcılar Mayor Utku Caner Çaykara, Gaziosmanpaşa Mayor Hakan Bahçetepe, Büyükçekmece Mayor Hasan Akgün, Ceyhan Mayor Kadir Aydar, and Seyhan Mayor Oya Tekin, were detained during simultaneous operations carried out on May 31.

Within the scope of the operation, 5 more suspects were later captured from those who had arrest warrants issued against them, and it was determined that 3 of them were in prison while 3 were abroad.
