The last phone conversation between Şevval Şahin, who jumped from the 12th floor to escape the fire disaster at a hotel in Bolu Kartalkaya, and her father has come to light. Şevval's cousin said, "That night, Şevval called her father and asked, 'Dad, what should I do?' Her father told her, 'Don't jump, my daughter.' Then, after talking for 10 minutes, the call was disconnected."
The fire at the 12-story Grand Kartal Hotel in Bolu Kartalkaya Ski Center, which claimed the lives of 78 people, has plunged Turkey into mourning. Şevval Şahin, who jumped from the 12th floor to escape the flames, passed away in the intensive care unit at Abant İzzet Baysal University Training and Research Hospital.
FAREWELL TO HER LAST JOURNEY
Şevval, who had started working as a waitress at the hotel 1.5 months ago, was brought to Bartın this morning. Her body was brought for the last time to her home on Aydınlık Street in the Demirciler neighborhood of Bartın, where the Quran was recited and prayers were offered for her. After the farewell, Şahin will be buried in the family graveyard at Halatçıyaması Cemetery following the funeral prayer to be held after the noon prayer at Şadırvan Mosque.
HER FATHER SAID "DON'T JUMP, MY DAUGHTER"
The funeral was attended by Amasra Mayor Recai Çakır, as well as Şevval Şahin's relatives, loved ones, and friends. It was revealed that Şevval made the decision to jump from the 12th floor during a phone call with her father. The last conversation between Şevval and her father has come to light. Murat Bakır, Şevval Şahin's cousin, stated, "That night, Şevval called her father and said, 'Dad, what should I do?' Her father replied, 'Don't jump, my daughter.' After talking for 10 minutes, the call was cut off. Her friends who were with her also passed away. It is a very tragic event."
