As part of the operations conducted by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, three individuals who were arrested have been transferred from Marmara Prison in Silivri to other correctional facilities. It has also been reported that Murat Ongun, who was arrested as part of the investigation, will be transferred to the Karatepe High Security Penitentiary Institution located in Çorlu, Tekirdağ.
Three individuals who were arrested as part of the terrorism and corruption investigation against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and held in Marmara Prison in Silivri have been transferred to different prisons.
MURAT ONGUN HAS BEEN SENT TO KARATEPE PRISON
Murat Ongun, who was arrested for "establishing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime" within the scope of the IMM investigation, has been transferred from Marmara Closed Prison to Karatepe High-Security Prison.
Similarly, Tuncay Yılmaz, who was also held in Marmara Prison, has been transferred to Tekirdağ Type 1 High-Security Prison; Fatih Keleş has been transferred to Kocaeli Type 2 High-Security Prison.
WHAT HAPPENED?
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office initiated an investigation against IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlu and 99 suspects for the crimes of "being a leader of a criminal organization," "being a member of a criminal organization," "embezzlement," "bribery," "qualified fraud," "illegally obtaining personal data," and "interfering with a tender." An investigation was also launched against 7 suspects, including İmamoğlu, IMM Deputy Secretary General Mahir Polat, and Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan, for the crime of "aiding the PKK/KCK terrorist organization."
Arrest warrants had been issued for many individuals, including Ekrem İmamoğlu.
