The Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has taken action in the investigation into the suspicious death of former MIT officer Kasif Kozinoglu in Silivri Prison in 2011. Judicial proceedings have been initiated against 11 suspects who were on duty at the prison on the date of the incident, and 10 people have been detained. It has been learned that 1 suspect is abroad as a FETO fugitive. Minister of Justice Akin Gurlek stated, 'Efforts are being meticulously continued to ensure that those responsible are held accountable before justice.'
A new development has occurred in the investigation into the death of former MIT official Kaşif Kozinoğlu, who lost his life in Silivri Prison 15 years ago.
Within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, legal proceedings have been initiated against 11 suspects who were on duty at the prison during the period when Kozinoğlu died.
10 SUSPECTS DETAINED
While 10 of the suspects were taken into custody within the scope of the investigation, it was learned that one person against whom proceedings were initiated is a fugitive abroad.
The file regarding Kozinoğlu's death was recently taken up for re-evaluation, and it was stated that information and documents related to the incident, as well as new evidence, would be examined.
DIED IN PRISON IN 2011
Kaşif Kozinoğlu, who was imprisoned within the scope of the Odatv case, fell ill and died in Silivri Prison on November 12, 2011. In the initial investigation launched after his death, in line with the report of the Forensic Medicine Institute, it was assessed that the death was due to a heart condition, and in 2012, a decision was made not to prosecute.
FILE REOPENED AFTER YEARS
The file regarding Kozinoğlu's death was sent to the "Unsolved" unit in August 2026 for re-evaluation. It was reported that handwritten notes written by Kozinoğlu in prison had also been included in the file during recent examinations.
