After the landslide that occurred in the Arhavi district of Artvin, the lifeless bodies of four young people trapped under the soil were recovered. The landslide blocked the Black Sea Coastal Road, and rescue operations were conducted using drones from the air.
During the landslide that occurred the previous night in the Kıyıcık area of Arhavi district in Artvin, the location of the vehicle containing four young people from Giresun, which was buried under the ground on the Black Sea Coastal Road, was determined through aerial scanning conducted by a drone, and efforts were initiated to retrieve the vehicle from its location. After the operations, the lifeless bodies of the four missing young people were found.
THE BLACK SEA COASTAL ROAD WAS CLOSED TO TRAFFIC The landslide that occurred around 03:15 the previous night in the Kıyıcık area of Arhavi district in Artvin caused the Black Sea Coastal Road to be closed to traffic. Due to the landslide, massive soil and rock masses that broke off from the slope blocked the road in both directions, and road clearing operations were carried out throughout the day yesterday. In the landslide clearing efforts initiated from both points in Fındıklı, Rize, and Arhavi, Artvin, after intensive work by construction machinery, an area of 200 meters was cleared of soil and stone piles, and by around 22:00 last night, after 19 hours of work, the road was opened to traffic in one lane.
EXPERT TEAMS CONDUCTED SEARCH OPERATIONS In response to claims that a vehicle with license plate 28 was buried under the soil, search operations were initiated today by expert teams at the landslide site. After reviewing the tunnel camera footage from the General Directorate of Highways, it was determined that a vehicle with license plate 28 was recorded in the tunnel but had not exited. While no vehicle was found in the opened section of the road, aerial scanning was conducted with a drone in the lane that was not opened to traffic today and on the seaside under the soil.
While a metal scan was conducted for the vehicle under the soil, expert search dogs also participated in the search operations. As a result of the searches, around 11:45, a signal from a device belonging to the Mineral Research and Exploration (MTA) was detected in the area where the drone was located, and a metal pile was found under the soil on the seaside. It was reported that after the construction machinery worked in the area, the vehicle buried under the soil was reached. Efforts were initiated to retrieve the vehicle from its location.
BODIES OF 4 YOUNG PEOPLE FOUND As a result of the operations, it was learned that the lifeless bodies of Murat Turhan, the driver of the vehicle with license plate 28 AAB 485, who had traveled from Giresun to Batumi last Saturday, and the passengers Aykut Tiryaki (24), Nuri Apaydın (38), and Görkem Özdemir (25), who had not been heard from for about 2 days, were also found inside the vehicle.
