19 suspects were detained in an operation against illegal betting and virtual gambling organized in 4 provinces centered in Izmir. Approximately 150 million lira worth of money movements were detected in the suspects' bank and crypto accounts. Efforts are ongoing to capture one fugitive suspect.
In an operation conducted by police targeting 'illegal betting and virtual gambling' across 4 provinces centered in Izmir, 19 suspects were detained. Under the coordination of the Izmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, efforts were made to combat the crimes of 'illegal betting and virtual gambling'. Today, simultaneous police operations were carried out in 4 provinces centered in Izmir against suspects identified as engaging in criminal activities through illegal betting sites and integrated panels, as well as linked bank and crypto accounts.
NUMEROUS DIGITAL MATERIALS SEIZED
During the operations, a total of 19 suspects were taken into custody, while efforts to capture 1 fugitive suspect are ongoing. Searches conducted at the addresses in question led to the seizure of numerous digital materials for examination. Initial investigations revealed approximately 19 million liras' worth of transaction volume in the suspects' bank and crypto accounts. In ongoing work, it was assessed that about 150 million liras' worth of money movements in these accounts originated from illegal betting.
The processing of the suspects at the police station is reported to be ongoing.
