In the Sinan Ateş case, the defendant who insulted CHP leader Özel was removed from the courtroom.

Tense moments occurred in the trial of the Sinan Ateş assassination case at the Ankara 32nd Heavy Penal Court. Before the hearing began, the detained defendant Suat Kurt was removed from the courtroom by gendarmerie teams after shouting at CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, "You are dishonorable, you scoundrel."

Former Ülkü Ocakları General President Sinan Ateş was killed in a gun attack on December 30, 2022, in the Çukurambar neighborhood of Çankaya district in Ankara.

TRIAL OF 22 DEFENDANTS CONTINUES

The trial of a total of 22 defendants, 12 of whom are detained, regarding the murder of Ateş is ongoing at the Ankara 32nd Heavy Penal Court in the Sincan Prison Campus. In today's hearing, the defendants, the complainant Sinan Ateş's family, and the lawyers of the parties attended.

GENDARMERIE DID NOT ALLOW MEETING

Before the hearing began, the lawyer of detained defendant Suat Kurt wanted to meet with his client. The gendarmerie teams did not allow the meeting, stating, "You need to get permission from the court panel."

SEVERE INSULTS TO ÖZGÜR ÖZEL

In response, Kurt directed insults and curses towards CHP General President Özel, saying, "Özgür Özel, you are dishonorable, you treacherous one." The gendarmerie teams removed Kurt from the courtroom.

After the court panel arrived, Kurt's lawyer requested a meeting with the panel, and permission was granted for the meeting. The hearing continues with the defense of the defendants.
