The Competition Authority has launched an investigation against Hobi Kozmetik and RA Pazarlama on the grounds that they have set resale prices. Following the preliminary investigation, the findings were deemed serious and sufficient, leading to the formal opening of the process. Allegations that the company provided advantages to sales points adhering to the set prices while cutting off product supply to those applying lower prices will be examined. The investigation will clarify whether there has been a violation.

The Competition Authority decided to open an investigation regarding the economic integrity consisting of Dabur International Limited's subsidiaries Hobi Kozmetik İmalat Sanayi ve Ticaret AŞ and RA Pazarlama Ltd. Şti. operating in Turkey.

PRICE FIXING ALLEGATION

In a statement from the Competition Authority, it was reported that the preliminary investigation regarding the allegation that the mentioned companies violated the Law on the Protection of Competition by determining the resale prices of their buyers has been completed. It was stated that the Board found the information and documents obtained to be serious and sufficient, and therefore decided to open an investigation.

ALLEGATION OF INTERFERENCE WITH SALES POINTS

The statement noted that advantages were provided to sales points that complied with the prices set by the company, while the supply of products to points selling at lower prices was cut off, and these findings would be examined.

PORTFOLIO OF OVER 200 PRODUCTS

It was reported that Hobi Kozmetik, operating under the "Hobby" brand, has a wide portfolio consisting of more than 200 products, including shower gel, liquid soap, wet wipes, hair care, and skin care products. Hobi Kozmetik conducts its overseas marketing activities, while RA Pazarlama handles its domestic sales.

“PRICES MAY HAVE BEEN ARTIFICIALLY INFLATED”

The statement emphasized that if the allegations are confirmed, it would reveal that sellers' freedom to set their own prices has been restricted, which would mean that prices have been artificially inflated. It was noted that such investigations aim to ensure consumers have access to more affordable prices.

DECISION DOES NOT IMPLY A VIOLATION

It was specifically stated that the Board's decision to open an investigation does not mean that the relevant companies have violated the law or are facing sanctions.
