Investigation into 4 new-generation criminal organizations! Minister Gürlek: Assets of 818 suspects seized

Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek announced that in financial investigations into 4 separate new-generation criminal organizations, bank accounts including rented safe deposit boxes and crypto assets of 818 suspects have been seized. Stating that attempts by criminal organizations to hide or launder their income through methods such as crypto assets, illegal betting, and gambling are under scrutiny, Minister Gürlek said, 'We will cut off not only the human resources of criminal organizations but also their financial veins.'

Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek shared new information regarding financial investigations carried out within the scope of the fight against organized crime organizations.

BLOW TO 4 NEW GENERATION CRIME ORGANIZATIONS

Within the scope of the work carried out by the Organized Crimes Investigation Bureau of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, operations were carried out targeting the financial resources of 4 separate new generation crime organizations.

ASSETS OF 818 SUSPECTS SEIZED

Within the scope of the investigations, the bank accounts, crypto assets, and safe deposit boxes of 818 suspects were also taken under review. As a result of the operations, the said financial assets were seized.

Gürlek drew attention to the fact that organized crime organizations resort to methods such as crypto assets, illegal betting, and gambling in order to conceal or launder their obtained income.

The Minister of Justice stated that financial investigations are being carried out decisively in line with the circular titled "Fight Against Organized Crime Organizations" sent to the Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices of 175 Heavy Penal Courts across 81 provinces on June 22, 2026.

Gürlek emphasized that the fight is not only aimed at the field structure of the organizations but also targets the income derived from crime.

Minister of Justice Gürlek stated, "We will cut off not only the human resources of crime organizations but also their financial lifelines. We will continue to target the entire structure of crime organizations, from the hitman on the street to the organization leader, from the instigator to the financier, from bank accounts to crypto assets."
