In France, around 20 victims have been identified in the investigation into the French leg of the Jeffrey Epstein case, 10 of whom were previously unknown names. As part of the investigation, an international assistance request has been made.
In France, new victims have emerged in the investigation into the French side of the case involving Jeffrey Epstein, who was found dead in prison while facing charges of running a prostitution network targeting underage girls.
Paris Public Prosecutor Laure Beccuau discussed developments in the large-scale investigation linked to the over 3 million Epstein documents shared with the US public last year, during the Grand Jury program jointly broadcast by RTL radio and Public Senat channel.
PROSECUTOR MADE AN INTERNATIONAL ASSISTANCE REQUEST REGARDING THE INVESTIGATION
Prosecutor Beccuau stated that within the scope of the "human trafficking" investigation examining Epstein's French connections following the release of the documents, around 20 victims have been identified, approximately 10 of whom were previously unknown names.
Beccuau recalled that half of the identified individuals are victims of former managers of different modeling agencies, Jean-Luc Brunel and Gerald Marie, whose names appear in the Epstein documents.
Prosecutor Beccuau reported that some of these individuals are abroad and stated that they have made an international assistance request regarding the investigation.
The US Department of Justice shared new documents related to Epstein with the public in January, and the files, which included numerous names from the political arena and business world, caused widespread repercussions. The Paris Prosecutor's Office had launched an investigation into the connection of some individuals named in the documents with Epstein.
THE JEFFREY EPSTEIN CASE
Epstein, who was being tried on charges of sexually abusing dozens of underage girls, the youngest being 14, and running a prostitution network, was found dead in his cell at the ???Manhattan Metropolitan Detention Center in New York, where he was detained, on August 10, 2019.
The released Epstein case files included famous names such as former Prince Andrew, US President Donald Trump, former US President Bill Clinton, former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, former US Vice President Al Gore, actor Kevin Spacey, singer Michael Jackson, illusionist David Copperfield, lawyer Alan Dershowitz, and former New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson.
The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) also announced that, as a result of its review with the US Department of Justice, no evidence was found that a "client list" of famous names was kept, and it was concluded that Epstein, who was alleged to have been killed to cover up the crimes of individuals including government officials, celebrities, and business people, actually committed suicide in his cell.
