While the judicial process regarding the murder of 8-year-old Narin Güran in Diyarbakır continues, a new development has occurred regarding the documentary 'Şeytantepe,' which examines the investigation and prosecution stages of the murder. The Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the documentary on the claim that it contains activities aimed at discrediting the investigation and trial processes.
The Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched a judicial investigation into the documentary "Şeytantepe," which focuses on the investigation and prosecution processes regarding the murder of 8-year-old Narin Güran. It was reported that the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is investigating the claim that the documentary was prepared as part of activities aimed at discrediting the investigation and prosecution processes.
GENDARMERIE AND JASAT FILED AN APPLICATION
According to information obtained, the investigation was initiated upon the application of the Diyarbakır Provincial Gendarmerie Command and JASAT. While the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an examination into the preparation process of the documentary, it has also put the activities of the people involved in the production under scrutiny.
SHOOTING, PRODUCTION, AND FINANCING PROCESS UNDER REVIEW
It was stated that, within the scope of the investigation, the people who took part in the shooting, production, and financing stages of the "Şeytantepe" documentary, as well as the money flows between these people, are being investigated.
It was also reported that the review is examining whether there is a connection between the documentary and activities targeting the final judicial decision, as well as the gendarmerie personnel and judicial authorities who served in the investigation processes of the Narin Güran case.
THE DOCUMENTARY ADDRESSED THE INVESTIGATION AND TRIAL PROCESS
The documentary "Şeytantepe," published by 140journos, addressed the investigation, trial, and media process regarding the murder of Narin Güran. The production brought up various claims regarding digital evidence, camera recordings, base station data, and the manner in which the investigation was conducted.
While the documentary questioned the way some critical evidence was evaluated and the practices in the early stages of the investigation, it also included claims that mistakes were made that could affect reaching the material truth in the case file.
THE NARIN GÜRAN MURDER
Narin Güran, who went missing in the Bağlar district of Diyarbakır on August 21, 2024, was found dead 19 days later in the Eğertutmaz Creek.
Within the scope of the case, the aggravated life sentences given to mother Yüksel Güran, brother Enes Güran, and uncle Salim Güran were upheld by the Court of Cassation. However, the decision regarding Nevzat Bahtiyar, who carried Narin's body to the creek bed, was overturned by the Court of Cassation.
The new investigation is expected to cover not only the content of the "Şeytantepe" documentary but also the people behind the production and financial connections.
