THE NEGOTIATION PROCESS BETWEEN IRAN AND THE USA

After the USA unilaterally withdrew from the nuclear agreement in 2018, President Donald Trump sent a letter last month to Iranian leader Khamenei, calling for direct nuclear negotiations with Iran. Iran responded to the letter through Oman. Following the letter exchanges, Iran and the USA held indirect talks in Oman on April 12. The parties met again on April 19 in Rome, Italy, mediated by Oman. Both Iran and the USA announced that progress had been made in the negotiations. Iran announced that technical discussions at the expert level would take place in Oman on April 23, and that indirect talks would continue again in Oman on April 26.
