The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has escalated its threat of attacks on the US military presence and vessels in the region to the highest level. In consecutive statements by the Navy and Aerospace Forces, it was emphasized that any intervention against Iranian ships would result in severe retaliation, stating, "The missiles and drones of the Revolutionary Guard Corps Aerospace Force are locked on US targets and the vessels of the aggressor enemy in the region. We are awaiting the order to fire."
The Aerospace Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the unit responsible for Iran's strategic missile operations, issued a written statement following a warning that any interference by the US with Iranian oil tankers and commercial vessels would be met with a heavy attack on US centers and enemy ships in the region.
“OUR MISSILES AND UAVS ARE LOCKED ON US TARGETS AND ENEMY SHIPS”
The statement said, "The missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Aerospace Force are locked on US targets in the region and the ships of the aggressive enemy. We are awaiting the order to fire."
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy had previously published a written statement with a "Warning" note against US interventions and attacks on Iranian oil tankers and commercial vessels. The statement declared that any interference with Iran's oil tankers or commercial ships would result in heavy attacks on one of the US centers in the region and on enemy ships.
“WE WILL RESPOND TO INTERVENTION ON OUR SHIPS BY STRIKING ONE OF THE US CENTERS IN THE REGION”
Meanwhile, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy also issued a statement titled "Warning" against US interventions and attacks on Iranian oil tankers and commercial vessels.
The statement said, "Any interference with Iranian oil tankers and commercial ships will be met with heavy attacks on one of the American centers in the region and on enemy ships."
IRAN'S CLOSURE OF THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ AND THE US NAVAL BLOCKADE
Following the war that began with the joint US-Israeli attacks on February 28, Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic transit point for global energy, to passage. This decision led to an increase of up to 80% in oil prices compared to the pre-war period.
After the ceasefire agreement reached between the US and Iran on April 8, talks mediated by Pakistan yielded no results. On April 13, the US decided to impose a naval blockade on Iran and began intercepting Iran-linked vessels entering and exiting the Strait of Hormuz.
On April 17, Iran announced that, following the ceasefire in Lebanon, the Strait of Hormuz would be open to commercial shipping during the ceasefire, provided it coordinated with the Iranian navy. However, after the US announced it would continue the naval blockade, Iran stated it had reimposed restrictions on transit through the strait.
During this period, the US attacked and seized some Iranian commercial vessels in the Sea of Oman and the Indian Ocean. In response, Iran seized some ships, some linked to Israel, near the Strait of Hormuz.
Most recently, after the US attacked an Iranian oil tanker on May 7, the Iranian navy targeted US warships in the region with missiles and kamikaze drones. Following this, US forces targeted some points along Iran's southern coast.
On May 8, Iran reported intercepting and seizing a foreign oil tanker that was "trying to harm Iran's oil exports by exploiting regional conditions."
