Iranian state media also released a note reportedly written in Ali Larijani's handwriting.

The message stated, "On the occasion of the funeral of the heroic martyrs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy: Their memory will live forever in the hearts of the Iranian people, and these martyrdoms will strengthen the foundations of the Islamic Republic Army within the structure of the armed forces for years to come. I pray to Almighty God to grant the highest ranks to these precious martyrs."

ALI LARIJANI DEFINES IRAN'S DEFENSE STRATEGY

Ali Larijani comes from a politically influential family in Iran. Born in Najaf, Iraq, which is considered holy for Shiites, Larijani received his religious education in Qom. After studying mathematics and computer science at university, he earned a doctorate in Western philosophy. Ali Larijani, who has written books on Kant, Kripke, and David Lewis, was the Chairman of the Supreme National Security Council in Iran. He served as the commander of the Revolutionary Guards in the 1980s and was appointed to the Supreme National Security Council in 1996. He ran for the presidency in 2021 and 2024 but was not allowed to participate in the election due to the veto of the Experts Assembly. Recently, he has been defining Iran's defense strategy and guiding nuclear negotiations. In 2025, he was reappointed as the head of the National Security Council by Khamenei. It was claimed that Larijani was the real figure governing the country under Khamenei's shadow.
