Iran has increased its attacks on the US military in the Strait of Hormuz. The Revolutionary Guard shot down a US MQ-9 Reaper drone east of Hormuz. Yesterday, a US drone of the same type was also shot down by Iran.
Iran announced that it shot down a US MQ-9 Reaper drone east of the Strait of Hormuz. This was the second MQ-9 downed in the last two days, while the Washington Post reported that the US has lost a total of 45 of these drones.
US DRONE SHOT DOWN IN HORMUZ
In a report by Iran's Fars News Agency, it was stated, "A few minutes ago, an MQ-9 drone was shot down after being targeted by fire from an advanced air defense system belonging to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps."
US LOSES 45 DRONES
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps had also reported early yesterday morning that a US MQ-9 was shot down over the Strait of Hormuz. In a report published on August 13, the Washington Post stated that the US has lost at least 45 of its MQ-9 Reaper drones, which it has used heavily, especially around the Strait of Hormuz, during the conflict with Iran.
The report, citing US officials, noted that this number corresponds to approximately 25 percent of the MQ-9 Reaper fleet.
