Is the end approaching for Netanyahu?

28.10.2024 21:10

In Israel, opposition leader Yair Lapid clashed with far-right Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir in parliament. Lapid's remarks about Netanyahu during the debate drew attention. Lapid stated, "The person who has led us into the greatest disaster in our history cannot claim to be the right person to save us from this disaster. There has not been a prime minister who has weakened the State of Israel more than Netanyahu."

The massacre cabinet in Israel clashed with the opposition. During a speech by opposition leader Yair Lapid, a debate erupted between him and the far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, drawing global attention to the words used regarding Netanyahu. For Netanyahu, who has rapidly escalated the war in the Middle East with support from many European countries, especially the USA, the phrase "the person who has led us to disaster" was used.

"THE GREATEST DISASTER IN OUR HISTORY"

Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid addressed parliament members during the opening of the new legislative session. Targeting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Lapid emphasized that there has been no prime minister who has weakened Israel more than Benjamin Netanyahu. He stated that if Netanyahu wants to boast about the government's successes, he must also take responsibility for its failures, saying, "If you want to take credit for Nasrallah's death, then take credit for Carmel Gat's death as well. If you want to take credit for Sinwar's death, then take credit for those killed in Nir Oz. If you want to take credit for Haniyeh's death, then take responsibility for Nova. The person who has led us to the greatest disaster in our history cannot claim to be the right person to save us from this disaster. Mr. Netanyahu, there has been no prime minister who has weakened the State of Israel more than you. This government has been in power for two years since the end of December 2022. Is there a single positive change this government can point to? Is there a single good thing you have done for Israeli citizens?"

"HAS ISRAEL EVER BEEN HIT BY MORE MISSILES?"

Continuing to criticize the Netanyahu government, Lapid asked, "Has Israel ever been hit by more missiles? Have more civilians and soldiers died in Israel? Have citizens been evacuated from their homes for a long time? Have you ever thought, even in your worst nightmares, that hundreds of Israeli citizens would be abandoned and die in tunnels?"

"MORE ATTACKS, MORE MURDERS, MORE CRIMES"

Lapid, who claimed that far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has destroyed the economy, also criticized far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir for "enjoying himself at the scenes instead of preventing terrorist attacks." He pointed out that Ben-Gvir is the only person convicted of supporting terrorism in parliament, stating, "Statistics do not lie. Since he became a minister, there have been more attacks, more murders, more crimes, more terrorism. A supposed hundred, but in action, zero." Following Lapid's remarks, a verbal dispute broke out between Ben-Gvir and Lapid as Ben-Gvir shouted at him.

ACCUSATION AGAINST NETANYAHU: BRIBING COALITION PARTNERS

Another development has emerged that could corner Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, who has escalated the war in the Middle East and has been killing civilians in Gaza for over a year. Israel's main opposition leader Lapid accused Netanyahu of "bribing coalition partners."

LAW EXEMPTING RELIGIOUS JEWS FROM MILITARY SERVICE

In a statement on his social media account, Lapid commented on the bill exempting religious Jews from military service following the resumption of legislative work by the Israeli Parliament. He shared, "While there are still female soldiers in the hands of Hamas in Gaza, the Israeli government supports the law to evade military service." He reacted against the bill.

BETRAYAL OF PATRIOTS

Lapid accused the Netanyahu government of "betraying patriots," stating, "We will fight against this disgraceful law." Regarding the exemption of religious Jews from military service, Lapid criticized the government, saying, "Netanyahu is bribing coalition partners to stay politically afloat while sending soldiers to war." Avigdor Liberman, leader of the Yisrael Beiteinu Party in the Israeli opposition, also stated that the bill "harms the unity and strength of the nation," calling on the Netanyahu government to "repeal the law to evade military service." Liberman called for a law requiring everyone living in Israel to serve mandatory military service at the age of 18.

SOUTH AFRICA SUBMITTED EVIDENCE FILE TO ICJ

Meanwhile, South Africa submitted an evidence file to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) regarding the genocide case against Israel. In a written statement from the South African Department of International Relations and Cooperation, it was stated, "(The file) contains evidence showing the path taken by the Israeli government to achieve its goals of depopulating Gaza by promoting the extermination of Palestinians living in Gaza, physically killing them with various destructive weapons, obstructing their access to humanitarian aid, creating living conditions aimed at physically exterminating them, and disregarding or ignoring various interim measures ordered by the ICJ, using hunger as a weapon of war, through mass deaths and forced displacements."
