Israel released 200 Palestinian prisoners as part of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement. Of the released Palestinians, 114 regained their freedom in the West Bank, while 16 were sent to Gaza.
70 PALESTINIANS REACHED EGYPT
Seventy Palestinians, who were sentenced for serious crimes and thus deported, have reached Egypt. The Palestinians, who communicated with their loved ones over the phone, knelt down and prostrated.
Egyptian officials announced that the Palestinians would be transferred to the capital, Cairo.
WHAT HAPPENED?
In the first round of the prisoner exchange agreement that came into effect on January 19, 90 Palestinians and 3 Israeli prisoners were released.
In the first round of the prisoner exchange, Hamas's military wing, Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, handed over 3 Israeli female prisoners to the Red Cross team on January 19 as part of the first phase of the agreement.
In this context, 90 Palestinians held in Israeli prisons were also released hours later from the Ofer Military Prison located in the occupied West Bank.
