U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance's team reportedly attempted to prevent Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu from meeting with Trump, in order to stop Netanyahu from pressuring Trump to take a tougher stance on Iran.
It has been reported that the team of US Vice President J.D. Vance attempted to prevent Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu from meeting with US President Donald Trump.
"BLOCKING MEETING WITH TRUMP" According to a report by Yedioth Ahronoth, citing senior Israeli officials, those close to Vance are trying to block the two leaders' meeting to prevent Netanyahu from pressuring Trump to adopt a tougher stance on Iran.
Senior Israeli officials, arguing that the relationship between Netanyahu and Trump is much better than publicly portrayed, suggested that some of the tension between the two leaders amounts to a "staged fight."
BLOCKING THE BILATERAL MEETING Officials speaking to the newspaper emphasized that individuals close to US Vice President J.D. Vance in the White House oppose the bilateral meeting, which they describe as an "attempt to push Trump toward a tougher position on Iran," and are actively trying to block it.
The report also stated that US President Donald Trump's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff's advisor, Aryeh Lightstone, is expected to meet with Netanyahu to schedule a potential meeting.
It was also noted that Netanyahu, who plans to travel to the US on July 27 to attend Republican Senator Lindsey Graham's funeral, is avoiding going to Washington without a guarantee of a meeting with Trump.
VANCE'S STATEMENT ON ISRAEL In a statement on July 16, US Vice President J.D. Vance said, "People who were previously funded by the Israeli government during Trump's election campaign are ruthlessly attacking me. They are attacking me for trying to achieve the negotiation goal set by the President himself for the country."
US Vice President J.D. Vance Vance, stating that Israel is more effective than most countries in trying to influence US politics, said he responded to those attacking him with, "Go to hell."
Vance, expressing that some Israeli officials are uncomfortable with the peace talks between Iran and the US, said, "The extent to which the Israeli government influences American politics is widely discussed, and there are some within the Israeli government who hate the agreement. We are seeing concrete evidence of this."
