ISRAEL'S ATTACKS ON LEBANON AND THE CEASEFIRE

The Israeli army launched intensive airstrikes on Lebanon on March 2, occupying several towns in the south of the country. During this process, the Lebanese government announced that the number of displaced people in the country had exceeded 1 million.

US President Donald Trump stated on April 24 that the temporary 10-day ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel, which came into effect on April 17, had been extended for an additional 3 weeks.

As a result of the third round of talks between Lebanon and Israel, mediated by the US and held on May 14-15, it was decided to extend the ceasefire for 45 days as of May 17 and to hold a fourth round of talks at the beginning of June.

In its latest statement, the Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that 3,433 people have lost their lives in attacks carried out by Israel on the country since March 2.

Despite the ceasefire, the Israeli army continues its attacks and home demolitions in southern Lebanon, while Hezbollah attacks Israeli forces, citing violations of the ceasefire.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on May 25 that he gave the army instructions to increase attacks on Lebanon.
