Israel announced that it killed a person it claims is affiliated with the Islamic Jihad Movement "because he posed a threat."
In a statement from the Israeli army, it was reported that a person alleged to be a member of the Islamic Jihad Movement was killed and that fire was opened on some groups trying to move north on the grounds that they were "suspicious."
ATTACKS CONTINUE DESPITE CEASEFIRE
Under the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement reached with Hamas, Israel was supposed to stop its attacks in the region and allow forcibly displaced Palestinians to return to northern Gaza by the morning of January 26, Sunday.
However, it was reported that an Israeli fire in the city of Rafah, located in the southern Gaza Strip, resulted in the death of a Palestinian during the day.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Additionally, Israel announced that "until the mentioned prisoner is released, the residents of Gaza will not be allowed to move north," using the non-release of the prisoner named "Arbel Yehud" as an excuse.
Israeli media reported that before the second round of the prisoner exchange held on January 25, the Tel Aviv administration conveyed its demand for Yehud's release to the mediators, while Hamas responded that no promises could be made on this matter since the mentioned prisoner was in the hands of Islamic Jihad.
