It was announced that the name of the "E1" area between the "Maale Adumim" settlement built on the Palestinian territories seized under the Israeli occupation in East Jerusalem and West Jerusalem will be changed.
TRUMP'S NAME WILL BE GIVEN
Guy Yifrach, the Mayor of 'Maale Adumim', speaking to Israel Hayom newspaper, stated that the area "E1" will be named after U.S. President Donald Trump. After the construction in the area begins, it will be referred to as "T1" in reference to President Trump, and the municipality made this decision "in honor of the newly inaugurated U.S. President Trump," Yifrach noted, adding that they aim to build an Israeli neighborhood here during Trump's four-year term. Yifrach claimed that the "E1" area is of strategic importance for Israel and will provide a connection between Maale Adumim and Jerusalem. He argued that the Israeli government should accelerate settlement construction in the areas seized from Palestinian territories in the occupied West Bank, expressing that they "pin their hopes on U.S. President Trump."
12 THOUSAND DUNAMS OF PALESTINIAN LAND HAVE BEEN SEIZED
The "Maale Adumim" settlement, historically part of East Jerusalem but built near the Palestinian neighborhood of Azariyeh, which is located on the West Bank side of the Separation Wall (Wall of Shame), was initiated to connect to the road leading to West Jerusalem through the "E1" project. In this context, more than 12 thousand dunams of Palestinian land were seized to build over 4 thousand housing units and hotels in the area. The E1 project aims to cut off and isolate the connection of East Jerusalem to the Palestinian territories in the West Bank. It is reported that more than 5 thousand Palestinians could be displaced from their lands under this project.
UN CONSIDERS ISRAELI SETTLEMENTS IN PALESTINIAN TERRITORIES ILLEGAL
The United Nations considers Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories to be illegal. The UN's highest judicial body, the International Court of Justice, stated in July 2024 that the occupying Israel must stop all "new settlement activities" and remove all Israelis from the Palestinian lands they have seized, but Israel rejected the decision.
