Nedim Türkmen, a writer for Sözcü, and his family, who lost their lives in a fire at the Grand Kartal Hotel in Kartalkaya, were bid farewell on their final journey from the Marmara University Faculty of Theology Mosque in Üsküdar.

In the fire that broke out at the Grand Kartal Hotel in Bolu Kartalkaya, 76 people lost their lives. Among those who died in the fire disaster was Nedim Türkmen, a writer for Sözcü newspaper, who had been missing for a long time, along with his wife Ayşe Neva, his 18-year-old daughter Ala Dora, and his 22-year-old son Yüce Ata. It was reported that Nedim Türkmen's other daughter, Pelin Türkmen, was not in Kartalkaya.
FAREWELL TO HIS LAST JOURNEY
A funeral ceremony was held today after the afternoon prayer at the Marmara University Faculty of Theology Mosque in Üsküdar for Nedim Türkmen and his family. The ceremony was attended by Türkmen's relatives and loved ones, as well as Istanbul Governor Davut Gül, Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Celal Adan, President of the Union of Turkish Municipalities and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, Üsküdar Mayor Sinem Dedetaş, members of parliament, Sözcü newspaper executives, and many citizens.
NEVER LEFT HIS FATHER'S COFFIN
Pelin Türkmen, Türkmen's surviving daughter, never left her father's coffin. A jersey of Orduspor, the team supported by Nedim Türkmen, was placed on his coffin. After the funeral prayer, flowers were thrown onto the coffins of the Türkmen family. The funerals were taken to Ihlamurkuyu Cemetery for burial.
