CEASEFIRE AND PRISONER EXCHANGE AGREEMENT BETWEEN ISRAEL AND HAMAS
Qatar, one of the mediating countries, announced on January 15 that an agreement had been reached between Israel and Hamas regarding a ceasefire and prisoner exchange in Gaza. The agreement will come into effect on Sunday, January 19. In the first 42 days of the three-phase ceasefire agreement, 33 Israeli prisoners will be released. The agreement also includes comprehensive humanitarian aid reaching the Gaza Strip, as well as allowing displaced Palestinians to return to their regions. Details of the second and third phases will be announced upon the completion of the first phase.
Since October 7, 2023, approximately 46,707 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, including about 17,841 children and 12,298 women, and 110,265 people have been injured.
