According to Brand Finance's "City Index 2024" research, which is one of the leading brand evaluation organizations in the world, this year's 100 brand cities have been announced, with Istanbul, Antalya, and Izmir once again making the list.

According to a compilation by AA correspondent, 15,000 people from 20 countries, including Turkey, the USA, Germany, Australia, the United Arab Emirates, Brazil, China, Indonesia, France, South Africa, South Korea, India, the UK, Spain, Italy, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Nigeria, and Saudi Arabia, participated in the survey that determined the ranking of 100 world cities.

The cities were researched under 7 main headings and 45 sub-headings, including recognition, reputation, and desirability, as well as business life and investment attractiveness, culture and heritage, science and education, governance, livability, people and values, and sustainability.

LONDON IN FIRST PLACE

As in the previous year, London, New York, and Paris occupied the top three spots on the list this year as well. Tokyo was found in 4th place, while Dubai was 5th, Singapore 6th, Los Angeles 7th, Sydney 8th, San Francisco 9th, and Amsterdam 10th.

In the overall ranking, Istanbul, which was 57th last year, rose 6 places to become 51st this year. Antalya ranked 93rd, and Izmir 98th on the same list. A basic success ranking of the three major cities was made. In recognition, Istanbul was 31st, Antalya 95th, and Izmir 100th.

In terms of reputation, Istanbul was also in 51st place, while Antalya was 93rd and Izmir 97th. In the desirability ranking, Istanbul was 62nd, Antalya 93rd, and Izmir 97th.

"CITIES SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN COUNTRY PROMOTION"

Brand Finance Turkey Director Muhterem İlgüner emphasized that Istanbul, Antalya, and Izmir, which are among the tourism centers, are also included in the list, stating, "It is natural for Istanbul to be ranked at a certain position due to the superiority and blessings bestowed by history and nature. It is a world city, but the city brand needs to be managed to rise higher in the global ranking. For example, the city's presence in the internet and digital world, which includes about 5 billion people, can be strengthened, and it can compete with its rivals in terms of 'awareness' and 'recognition'." he stated.

İlgüner noted that Antalya has attracted attention with tourism investments and promotional activities carried out by the central government, and he mentioned that Izmir is also among the cities on the list. İlgüner said, "As the importance of including cities in country promotion efforts becomes clearer every day, it is expected that this understanding and development will also be valid for our country." he said.

The top 10 cities determined as a result of the "City Index 2024" research are as follows:
