The allegations that "extras were brought in through a casting agency" to the CHP's membership ceremony have taken on a new dimension. While CHP Istanbul Provincial Chairman Gürsel Tekin argued that the claims were a "conspiracy" and announced that they had filed a criminal complaint, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office stated that an investigation had been launched following the complaint. As part of the investigation, statements will be taken from those who were complained about.
CHP Istanbul Provincial Chairman Gürsel Tekin made statements at a press conference regarding the party's participation ceremony held yesterday and reports about "figurehead members" being transported.

Tekin argued that the allegations were a "conspiracy" and announced that they had filed a criminal complaint against those responsible with the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
Tekin said, "I say it clearly and plainly; neither Gürsel Tekin nor our friends have been party to any dirty business. We have not set traps for anyone, inside or outside. Whoever set this trap, even if it's my brother, let the prosecutors go all the way. Those responsible for this FETÖ-style plot must be exposed."
STATEMENT FROM THE CHIEF PUBLIC PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE: INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED
Meanwhile, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office also announced that an investigation has been launched into the matter.
In a statement regarding the issue, the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office said: "An investigation has been initiated following the complaint petition submitted to our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office by the complainant's attorney regarding allegations that individuals who were not actually members were taken to the CHP event in Sarıyer through an agreement with a casting agency, and the related broadcasts. When the investigations are concluded, the statements of the complained individuals will be taken."
