The legislative proposal by AK Party members to increase maternity leave from 16 weeks to 24 weeks has reached its final stages. With the proposal, the duration of "maternity leave" will be extended from 16 weeks to 24 weeks. All women in the workforce, including civil servants, workers, military personnel, judges, prosecutors, personnel of public economic enterprises, and academics, will benefit from the regulation.
AK Party deputies, under the leadership of Group Chairman Abdullah Güler and Group Deputy Chairman Leyla Şahin Usta, have completed the work on the social media regulation for maternity leave and children.
ALL WORKING WOMEN WILL BENEFIT
With the proposal, the duration of "maternity leave" will be extended from 16 weeks to 24 weeks. All women in the workforce, including civil servants, workers, military personnel, judges-prosecutors, personnel of public economic enterprises (KİT), and academics, will benefit from the regulation.
MATERNITY LEAVE WILL INCREASE TO 24 WEEKS
The maternity leave durations specified in the "Civil Servants Law," "Labor Law," and "Turkish Armed Forces Personnel Law" will be rearranged to a total of 24 weeks, consisting of 8 weeks before birth and 16 weeks after birth.

Additionally, this proposal will include regulations aimed at protecting children from the harms of the internet.
With the proposal, children under the age of 15 will not be able to open accounts on social networking sites and will only be able to access age-appropriate games. An identity verification application will be implemented in this regard.
Social media platforms will filter content according to age groups, ensuring that inappropriate content for children is not displayed.
Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş had made a presentation at the AK Party Central Decision and Administration Board (MKYK) meeting chaired by President and AK Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, providing information about the social media regulation for children.
