Located between the provinces of Manisa and İzmir, Spil Mountain National Park, with a height of 1517 meters, has seen the Manisa tulip, known as the herald of spring, begin to bloom as the weather warms.

The tulips, which typically bloom between April 28 and May 3 each year and remain alive for about 10 days, attract intense interest from visitors. Nature lovers hike up Spil to see the unique beauty in person and take photos.

"THE FINE IS ALMOST AS MUCH AS A CAR"

Erdal Arslan, one of the visitors who came to see the Manisa tulip blooming in Spil Mountain National Park, said he and his friends climbed Spil to see the famous tulips of Manisa.

Arslan said, "These tulips bloom once a year. It's worth coming just to see them. There's a beautiful natural landscape. Don't pick them, because the fine for picking is nearly 700,000 lira. The fine is as much as a car. This shows how valuable it is."

Özcan Soydam, who said he came to photograph the tulips, stated, "It's a very valuable flower in Manisa. It blooms once a year. I wanted to take its picture. The fine for picking is very high. It's more beautiful on the stem."

Another visitor said, "Even taking photos is a great feeling. I hope no one picks them."

Authorities warned citizens about high administrative fines, stating that picking tulips from nature harms biodiversity.

The fine for picking the protected Manisa tulip was 109,593 TL in 2022, 244,315 TL in 2023, 387,142 TL in 2024, 557,212 TL in 2025, and increased to 699,245 TL in 2026.
