EXPERIENCING THE SAME NIGHTMARE AGAIN AFTER 20 YEARS
Selim Kaya, who migrated to Izmir 20 years ago due to two fires in his house in Çorum, lost all his belongings along with his house in the forest fire that occurred in Izmir this time. Selim Kaya, whose house has been burning for 20 years in the neighborhood, and Resul Sirkeci, whose 35-year-old house was engulfed in flames, are trying to support each other in front of the collapsed walls.
"I ESCAPED FROM MY HOMETOWN BECAUSE OF THE FIRE"
41-year-old Selim Kaya, who lives alone in the house and earns his living by working in construction sites, said that he was at work during the fire and felt great sadness when he saw the condition of his house. Kaya, who encountered the fire disaster for the third time, explained that his house in his hometown Çorum burned twice in 1990 and 1995, and he migrated to Izmir to start a new life.
"I escaped from my hometown because of the fire, and the fire found me here as well. Our house was completely burned in Çorum," said Kaya, stating that he does not have the opportunity to rebuild his house and asking for support. Kaya, who also mentioned that about 50,000 liras burned, said, "I had renewed all the furniture in the house. I was planning to get married. I had bought everything from scratch. Now I am back to square one. May God not let anyone experience this, may He not give it to my enemy."
