The 21st Extraordinary Congress of the CHP is being held at the Nazım Hikmet Cultural Center with the slogan "The Will is the Nation's." A symbolic chair was reserved in the hall for the suspended İBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is detained in Marmara Prison in Silivri, and it was labeled "Presidential Candidate."
ONE CANDIDATE WITHDREW
At the congress, Bülent Nuri Çavuşoğlu, the Mayor of Denizli Metropolitan Municipality, was elected as the "Chairman of the Council." In the congress where the current Chairman Özgür Özel, Antalya Muratpaşa Mayor Ümit Uysal, and former MP Berhan Şimşek were candidates for the chairmanship, Ümit Uysal withdrew his candidacy, stating, "I will not continue my candidacy in order not to damage my party."
KILIÇDAROĞLU DID NOT APPLAUD
Former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, whose attendance at the congress was a matter of curiosity, also took his place in the hall. Kılıçdaroğlu had recently put an end to the discussions about candidacy and clearly stated that he would not run.
