In the first week of the World Cup Group F, the Netherlands and Japan drew 2-2.
In the opening match of Group F of the 2026 World Cup, the Netherlands faced Japan. The match held at Dallas Stadium ended in a 2-2 draw.
THE NETHERLANDS TOOK THE LEAD TWICE BUT FAILED
The first goal of the match came from Van Dijk in the 51st minute. Japan's response to this goal was swift, and in the 57th minute, Nakamura equalized to make it 1-1. After this goal, the Netherlands increased their pressure again and took the lead once more in the 64th minute through Summerville. Japan equalized again in the 88th minute with Kamada. No further goals were scored in the remainder of the match.

Both teams started the World Cup with 1 point from this result. The Netherlands will play their next match in Group F against Sweden on June 20. Japan will face Tunisia on June 21.
