UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer made assessments during a visit to a defense industry factory. Starmer emphasized the urgency of strengthening defense due to Russia's threat of an attack on NATO.

GAVE A DATE FOR POTENTIAL RUSSIAN ATTACKS

Starmer said, "If you need a reminder of the importance of this, our intelligence assessment, along with that of other countries in NATO, indicates that Russia could launch an attack on NATO as early as 2030."

HIGHLIGHTED THE IMPORTANCE OF THE DEFENSE INVESTMENT PLAN

Starmer stated, "This defense investment plan will be really important, very focused on the future capabilities we need to defend our country. This will mean more jobs for you and for other people like you across the country, because as we increase defense spending, which we have already done, and as we implement the defense investment plan that will be published in the coming weeks, it is really important that this also brings well-paid, skilled jobs in this country."

SPECIAL EMPHASIS ON THE SUMMIT IN TURKEY

Starmer, who said they have been working closely with the Armed Forces on the defense investment plan for some time, added, "Because we need this interaction. Which capabilities do you need most, and in what timeframe? We have worked with the Ministry of Defence and across government, because this is an intergovernmental priority. This plan will be published just before the NATO Summit, which will take place in a few weeks. This is a very important summit where countries from around the world come together."

Starmer also emphasized that NATO is the most effective military alliance the world has ever seen.

NATO'S STRATEGIC SUMMIT IN ANKARA

The summit to be held in Ankara will be the second NATO leaders' meeting hosted by Turkey. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte emphasized Turkey's critical role in the alliance's security, while stating that defense spending, defense industry capacity, and regional security are expected to be the prominent topics at the summit.
