Seydi Ahmet Keles, the detainee who stabbed and injured New Party Deputy Melih Meric in Gaziantep, was expelled from the New Party after resigning from his position as CHP Oğuzeli District Chairmanship and from his party. In a statement made by the New Party Gaziantep Provincial Directorate, it was said, 'The Provincial Executive Board has decided on the definitive expulsion of Seydi Ahmet Keles from the New Party. This decision was made within the framework of the party's bylaws, fundamental principles, and institutional responsibility understanding.'

The detained Seydi Ahmet Keles, who stabbed and injured New Party Deputy Melih Meric in Gaziantep, was expelled from the New Party, which he had joined after resigning from his post as CHP Oğuzeli District Chairman and from his party.

BLOOD FLOWED IN THE "DISTRICT CHAIRMANSHIP" DISPUTE

The incident occurred in Akkent Neighborhood on August 18. According to allegations, a dispute broke out between New Party Gaziantep Deputy Melih Meric and Seydi Ahmet Keles, who had resigned from his post as CHP Oğuzeli District Chairman and from his party to join the newly established New Party, because the promise to appoint him to the district chairmanship was not kept. 

The dispute quickly turned into a fight. During the fight, Seydi Ahmet Keles stabbed Meric and fled. Police and medical teams were dispatched to the address upon reports from those around to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Meric, who received initial treatment at the scene, was taken to Gaziantep City Hospital. 

KELES AND HIS SON WERE ARRESTED

Meric, whose intestines were damaged by the stab wound, underwent surgery. Seydi Ahmet Keles and his son Hakan Keles, who were detained regarding the incident, were arrested, while A.Ç., E.D., and private security officer R.Ç. were released under judicial control.

SERIOUSLY INJURED DEPUTY TRANSFERRED TO ISTANBUL

After the surgery, Melih Meric's condition was reported to be improving, and his family requested his transfer to Istanbul Koç University Hospital. Accordingly, an air ambulance affiliated with the Ministry of Health took Meric from Gaziantep Airport to Istanbul.

EXPELLED FROM THE PARTY

While the investigation into the incident continues, Seydi Ahmet Keles, detained on charges of 'attempted intentional homicide,' was expelled from the New Party.

In a written statement from the New Party Gaziantep Provincial Directorate, the following expressions were included:

"The New Party Gaziantep Provincial Executive Board meeting was held, and during the meeting, a division of duties regarding the responsibilities of the board members was made, and the relevant duties were notified to them. 

In the new term, as the New Party Gaziantep Provincial Directorate, our work will be carried out with determination in line with the principles of clean politics, transparent governance, merit, and service. Producing solutions to the problems of our Gaziantep and our fellow citizens, maintaining strong and continuous communication with our citizens, and demonstrating a political understanding worthy of the trust of our people will be among our fundamental priorities. 

At the Provincial Executive Board meeting, the evaluation and process regarding Seydi Ahmet Keles were also discussed. As a result of the evaluations, the Provincial Executive Board decided on the definitive expulsion of Seydi Ahmet Keles from the New Party. This decision was taken within the framework of the party's bylaws, fundamental principles, and institutional responsibility understanding" it was stated.
