The Turkish flag, waving on a 20-meter pole erected by paragliders on Avşar Hill in Burdur, was riddled with holes after being targeted with a shotgun by unidentified person or persons. Noticing the scandal during competition preparations, Fatih Kılıçaslan, the provincial representative of the Turkish Air Sports Federation, reacted to the situation with the words, 'Shooting at the flag is a deplorable situation,' while efforts were initiated to catch the perpetrators.
A Turkish flag hanging on a 20-meter pole at Avşar Hill, used by paragliders as a takeoff point in Burdur, was fired upon with a shotgun. Athletes reacting strongly to the ugly attack on the flag said, "What is shooting at a flag? It is a deplorable situation," and demanded that the perpetrators be found.
A scandalous incident occurred at Avşar Hill, which is the center of paragliding in Burdur. Athletes who have been beautifying the area with their own means for 15 years and erected a 20-meter flag pole on the hill encountered a shocking sight during a site inspection. Teams going up to the hill for preparations for the Turkey Paragliding Target Competition scheduled for next month noticed that the Turkish flag had been riddled with holes, targeted by a shotgun.
"WHAT IS SHOOTING AT A FLAG?"
Fatih Kılıçaslan, the Provincial Representative of the Turkish Air Sports Federation and President of the Burdur Paragliding Sports Club, strongly condemned the attack carried out by unidentified person or persons. Stating that they have put great effort into Avşar Hill, Kılıçaslan expressed his reaction with these words: "As paragliders, we have been trying to beautify Avşar Hill for about 15 years, and we have put a lot of effort into it. We erected the flag pole here with our paraglider friends. We don't say anything to those who come here to eat and drink, but what is shooting at the flag pole, shooting at the flag... It is a deplorable situation. The attack on the flag is not nice at all. We strongly condemn this."

Following the ugly attack on our sacred value, the Turkish flag, an investigation has been initiated in the region. Security forces are working to identify and capture the person or persons who targeted the flag with a shotgun.
