Kelly Clarkson said that at the store she went to for shopping, she was treated as if she did not have money to buy the products. The famous singer, who reacted to the employee’s attitude with the words “You lost a big sale,” likened what she experienced to the store scene in Julia Roberts’ film “Pretty Woman.”

World-famous singer Kelly Clarkson reacted to the treatment she received at a store she went to for shopping. The 44-year-old singer, who visited a store called Art of Play in New York’s Brooklyn borough, said an employee treated her as if she did not have the money to buy the products.

Recounting what happened on her X account on October 10, Clarkson stated that she went there specifically because she found the store interesting and had previously picked out several products she wanted to buy. However, the employee’s approach dampened the singer’s enthusiasm for shopping. According to Clarkson’s account, the employee told her she could find similar options for herself instead of the products she was interested in.

“YOU LOST A BIG SALE”

Criticizing the employee’s attitude, Clarkson said the store “lost a big sale.” In her statement, the singer also named the store and compared her experience to the film Pretty Woman, starring Julia Roberts.

In the 1990 film, Vivian, played by Roberts, is looked down on because of her appearance in the boutique she enters to shop. Clarkson also said that the treatment she was shown in the store reminded her of this scene.

STORE PUBLISHED A CUSTOMER REVIEW

Hours after Clarkson’s statement, Art of Play featured a customer review on its Instagram Story praising its employees’ kindness. The review included the customer’s words describing how she had been warmly welcomed from her first visit to the store. The store later removed this content.
