Former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has been sentenced to 11 months and 20 days in prison for the expression he used against President Erdoğan.

A decision has been issued regarding former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu in the case heard at the Mersin 3rd Criminal Court of First Instance. The court ruled that Kılıçdaroğlu be sentenced to 11 months and 20 days in prison for the crime of "insulting the President."

"WE ARE SURE IT WILL BE OVERTURNED ON APPEAL"

In a statement to Yaniçağ, Kılıçdaroğlu's lawyer Celal Çelik stated that they do not accept the decision and consider it a "political decision." Çelik said, "We are faced with complete lawlessness. This decision is unacceptable. We will take this unlawful decision to appeal and we are sure it will be overturned on appeal. It is not an acceptable decision."

HE HAD SAID "I AM NOT SORRY"

Two years ago, within the scope of the same file, Kılıçdaroğlu had given his defense in Ankara by instruction on the charge of "publicly insulting a public official due to their duty." In his defense, Kılıçdaroğlu stated that he did not regret his words, and expressed that he had worked honestly throughout his life and raised his children with lawful earnings.

"I LOOKED AFTER THE RIGHTS OF THE POOR"

In his defense, Kılıçdaroğlu used the expressions, "I managed very large budgets, I always looked after the money and interests of the poor and needy. I have always loved my nation and my state, I never strayed from loyalty."

After the decision given by the court, how the process will proceed has become a matter of curiosity.
