Prof. Dr. Mehmet Burcin Pişkin, who expressed the difficulties his mother faced during her cancer treatment, made a statement regarding blood donations saying, "May God punish this man." Former Red Crescent President Kerem Kınık could not remain indifferent to this.
Professor Dr. Mehmet Burcin Pişkin, who works at Yıldız Technical University, received a striking response from former Red Crescent President Kerem Kınık regarding his harsh words about blood donations.
BLOOD DONATION DEBATE MOVED TO SOCIAL MEDIA
In a post on his social media account, Professor Dr. Mehmet Burcin Pişkin stated that he lost his mother to cancer four months ago and highlighted the difficulties they faced during the treatment process. Pişkin expressed that his mother's need for blood and platelets increased during chemotherapy, and they experienced great distress due to the decrease in donations, saying, "I was looking for blood like a beggar around because blood donations decreased because of this man. May God curse him a thousand times."
RESPONSE FROM KEREM KINIK
Former Red Crescent President Kerem Kınık responded to Professor Dr. Pişkin's statements via social media. In his message, Kınık offered his condolences to Pişkin and drew attention to the Red Crescent's blood donation data. Kınık claimed that there are record increases in blood donations every year.
"CURSING AN UNKNOWN PERSON..."
Kınık emphasized the importance of live donor support due to the short shelf life of platelet donations. Stating that he donates blood every three months, Kınık also called on Pişkin regarding this matter. In his statement, Kınık noted that it is not right for an academic to make personal accusations based on unverified information, saying, "Dear Professor Pişkin, may God have mercy on your mother, my condolences. I happened to see your post. You are an academic at Yıldız Technical University. If you had followed the Red Crescent instead of trolls, you would have seen that there are record increases in blood donations every year. Live donor support is important because the shelf life of platelets is 5 days. I donate blood every three months, and I recommend it to you as well. Also, it does not suit an academic to curse an unknown person based on the provocation of such trolls. I wish you healthy days without disasters."
