Keşan Mayor Mehmet Özcan, who resigned from CHP and joined the AK Party, walked to the municipal building with a cortege after a ceremony where he met with representatives of the People's Alliance. Özcan, emphasizing that he has served the region for over 20 years and never took an unlawful bite, explained his reason for switching sides by saying, 'We have no breath left under difficult conditions; our concern is to serve Keşan.' The AK Party described the transfer as 'service politics'.
Keşan Mayor Mehmet Özcan, who resigned from CHP and joined AK Party, arrived in front of the AK Party Keşan District Headquarters with his wife Şengül Özcan in the morning hours.
Özcan was welcomed here by AK Party Edirne Deputy Fatma Aksal, İpsala Mayor Mehmet Kerman, Beğendik Mayor Ferat Gülver, AK Party Provincial Chair Belgin İba, AK Party District Chair Savaş Pekdemir, MHP District Chair Adnan İnan, Cumhur İttifakı municipal council members, and party members. Özcan and those accompanying him then moved into the party building.
“OUR CONCERN IS TO SERVE OUR KEŞAN”
AK Party Edirne Deputy Fatma Aksal stated that AK Party acts with the understanding that 'Service begins locally,' adding, "Our President has a service-oriented policy that started from his tenure as mayor. Our concern is to serve our Keşan, to serve our fellow citizens, to serve our region. The rest is detail. The purpose of politics and politicians is to serve their nation, to raise the welfare level of citizens. Our job and focus should be service. Our aim here is to serve our Keşan. In this sense, you can see the developments in CHP. Our esteemed mayor has always been very valuable to us. He has been serving Keşan as mayor for four terms. He will continue the service journey that started in 2004, hopefully under the roof of AK Party and the Cumhur İttifakı this term," she said.
“WE WILL ACT TOGETHER IN EVERY MATTER THAT BENEFITS KEŞAN”
Keşan Mayor Mehmet Özcan expressed his happiness at being part of the AK Party family, saying, "I have won the mayoral election four times; each time, the next morning when I went to the office, I took off the party badge and put on the mayoral badge. I have been serving our region for over 20 years. My past is clean. Thank God, no forbidden morsel has passed my lips. It has decreased, not increased. But recently, I had a concern—there is much to be done for Keşan. Under these difficult conditions, we have no breath left. My wish is that when there is a problem regarding Edirne or Keşan, regardless of political party, our deputies and mayors come together at a single point for Keşan's benefit. Hopefully, from now on, we will act together in every matter that benefits Keşan. We will act together with other parties. We are already together with the Cumhur İttifakı. From now on, as long as we live, the people of Keşan will see how right we are," he said.
WENT TO THE MUNICIPALITY WITH A CORTEGE
After the statements at the party, a cortege was formed and walked to the Keşan Municipality service building with applause. Mehmet Özcan, who took over the Mayor's office, received congratulations and took commemorative photos with party members.
