PRISON SENTENCE FOR BRIBERY AND TRAVEL BAN ABROAD
According to the information obtained; a judicial investigation was being conducted against Mayor Ekmel Cönger for the crime of "Accepting Bribery." The Kırıkkale 1st Heavy Penal Court concluded the case file in the hearing dated 08.06.2026. The court sentenced Cönger to 5 years, 2 months, and 15 days of imprisonment under Article 251/1 of the Turkish Penal Code (TPC). Along with the decision, it was ruled that judicial control measures, including a ban on traveling abroad, would be applied separately against Cönger.
MINISTRY OF INTERIOR SUSPENDED FROM DUTY
Following this conviction and judicial control decisions by the court, the Ministry of Interior acted swiftly. The Ministry, based on the authority granted by Article 127 of the Constitution and Article 47 of the Municipal Law No. 5393, announced to the public through an official press release that it had suspended Keskin Mayor Ekmel Cönger from duty as a temporary measure.
