The life of a kidney patient in Amasya was turned upside down after a heart attack three years ago. 41-year-old Gültekin Kara, whose kidney transplanted from his brother failed and who is waiting for a transplant, said that if he recovers, his first act will be to drink water to his heart's content.
HEART ATTACK TURNED HIS LIFE UPSIDE DOWN
Gültekin Kara, living in Taşova district of Amasya, was diagnosed with kidney failure in 2017. Kara, who held onto life with a kidney transplanted from his brother, had a heart attack after contracting coronavirus in 2023. When the transplanted kidney of the young man, whose life was turned upside down, failed, he began to sustain his life by connecting to a dialysis unit 3 days a week.
"MY FIRST ACT WILL BE TO DRINK WATER TO MY HEART'S CONTENT
Kara, who could not continue his work as a welder and retired on disability, joining the thousands waiting for a kidney transplant, said, "I cannot eat olives, cheese, salty foods. I want to eat and drink like a normal person. Please, my state elders, help me. I am still very young. I want to live too. If I regain my health, my first act will be to drink water to my heart's content. I do not want anything else."
Kara, who lives with his elderly mother and son, is waiting for the days when he will undergo another kidney transplant and regain his health.
