Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who returned to the CHP General Chairmanship with the court's decision of absolute nullity, set a date for the congress for the first time. In his statement during a live broadcast, Kılıçdaroğlu said, "It will not be an extraordinary congress. An ordinary congress will be held. If the appeal at the Court of Cassation is withdrawn, we will hold the ordinary congress within 4-5 months at most."
Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who returned to the position of CHP Chairman with the court's absolute nullity ruling, has given a date for the congress for the first time. During a live broadcast on Sözcü TV, Kılıçdaroğlu announced that the party will proceed with an ordinary congress process, not an extraordinary one.
KILIÇDAROĞLU GIVES A DATE FOR THE CONGRESS
Stating that the process depends on the situation at the Court of Cassation, Kılıçdaroğlu said, "If the appeal at the Court of Cassation is withdrawn, we will hold the ordinary congress within 4-5 months at most." This statement was the first clear message about the roadmap to be followed within the party after the court's decision.
"I WILL TAKE THE PARTY TO THE CONGRESS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE"
Kılıçdaroğlu used the following statements: "Let me say this, I will definitely take the party to the congress as soon as possible. The petitions came, right? We accepted them; they requested and we accommodated them. They said they would make a statement, and we put the podium in front of them. We are doing all this without allowing any tension.
"AN ORDINARY CONGRESS WILL BE HELD, NOT AN EXTRAORDINARY ONE"
There is a 'precautionary' decision from the court. It is said we cannot proceed because of the Court of Cassation process. Look, I am not a lawyer. However, of course, the party will work during this process. There is no such situation as we will do nothing until the precautionary decision is lifted. Those who filed the objection are Mr. Özgür. We can talk to the other side; if necessary, both sides can withdraw the appeal at the Court of Cassation. This is negotiable.
It is not an extraordinary congress. An ordinary congress will be held. If the appeal at the Court of Cassation is withdrawn, we will hold the ordinary congress within 4-5 months at most. The ordinary congress ultimately involves provincial head elections and delegate elections. After all, we cannot do it with the old delegates, sir. The court annulled it due to suspicion; you are saying go and hold a congress with those delegates.
This would also result in an absolute nullity decision. Can the party be this exhausted? Don't you trust the delegates? You start with elections from the neighborhood level, come and hold the congress; it's that simple."
