It has emerged that hair strands were found in the frying pan and at various points in the kitchen where 18-year-old Ece Naz Macit was on the day she was shot and killed with a pistol at a house she was visiting in the Darıca district of Kocaeli. Additionally, security camera footage from the day of the incident shows Ece Naz going to the market with Y.O., one of the arrested suspects, and paying the bill herself after the shopping.
It has emerged that hair strands belonging to 18-year-old Ece Naz Macit, who lost her life after being shot with a pistol at a house she was visiting in the Darıca district of Kocaeli, were found in the frying pan in the kitchen where she was on the day of the incident, and at various other points.
2 ARRESTED, ONE UNDER HOUSE ARREST Ece Naz Macit, who was found shot with a pistol at a house she was visiting in Sırasöğütler Neighborhood on June 29, could not be saved despite all interventions at the hospital to which she was taken. Following the incident, S. C. G, Y. O., and A. A., who were at the house, were taken into custody. Among the suspects, S. C. G was arrested for "intentional killing," while Y. O. and A. A. were arrested for "violation of Law No. 6136." It was reported that suspect A. A. was released on July 30 under the condition of house arrest, while the other 2 suspects remained in custody.
HAIR STRANDS FOUND IN FRYING PAN In photographs taken on the day of the incident, hair strands belonging to Ece Naz were seen inside the frying pan in the kitchen and at various points in the kitchen. On the other hand, newly revealed security camera footage also showed Ece Naz going to the market with Y. O., one of the arrested suspects, on the day of the incident, and paying the bill herself after shopping.
CLAIM: "EITHER ECE WILL KILL ME OR I WILL KILL ECE" Döne Macit, 46, who is suffering the pain of burying her daughter at a young age, said that on the day of the incident, they were preparing to move to Düzce due to her husband's job. Macit said, "I was packing our belongings at home. While packing, I was called and told my daughter was involved in an armed fight, and finally, I learned my daughter had died. I didn't know the other 3 people with Ece Naz. I had only seen the girl named A. A. once or twice. Frankly, I didn't like her. She also sensed that I didn't like her. I constantly told my daughter not to see her. I said, 'I have a bad feeling about her.' Ece would tell me, 'Mom, you're always watching various programs. Your psychology is deteriorating.' But I hadn't liked that girl as a person. I guess they had known each other for about 3 months. A. A. had told a friend, 'I will act like a friend to Ece. Either Ece will kill me, or I will kill Ece.' There is also a witness who said this. I don't know why she said that. I think my daughter met the other two men through A.; she didn't know them before."
"SHE WAS TELLING HER FRIEND CIRCLE THAT SHE WAS JEALOUS OF ECE" Macit, who also stated that she had filed a missing person report at the police station the day before the incident because she couldn't reach her daughter, said, "Because she was 18, we couldn't find a solution. We found A.'s TikTok account. We asked where my daughter was; first, she said 'I don't know.' Later, she said, 'I went to her in the morning, then dropped her off at her house.' A. insulted me. I told her, 'You've stuck to my daughter like a leech. I don't want you near my daughter.' I was texting with my daughter, but she didn't want to move to Düzce with us. I am filing complaints against all 3 suspects. I am especially filing a complaint against A. In my opinion, she is the one who caused this. Because she was the one who introduced my daughter to those people and took her into that environment. Also, A. was telling her own friend circle that she was very jealous of Ece."
Ece Naz's mother Döne Macit "MY DAUGHTER WALKED BESIDE AZRAEL AND DIDN'T KNOW IT" Döne Macit, stating that the emerged hair strand evidence is proof of a struggle, said, "My daughter's hair was not the kind that would fall out on its own. We just want justice."
The tearful mother, emphasizing that her daughter had big dreams for the future, concluded her words as follows:
"Ece was an 11th-grade student in open high school. She planned to go abroad after finishing school. Her English was good. Now I have buried my daughter, but A. A. is under house arrest. It's like a huge reward given to her. I put my child in the ground. Now I travel kilometers to Samsun to hug her grave. We used to complain about the long road when my husband went to his hometown. But now I go without thinking. I hug my daughter's soil. But she has no voice, no breath, no herself. Nothing replaces my child. My daughter walked beside Azrael and didn't know it. She went to death knowingly."
"IT IS NOT CLEAR WHO SHOT HER" Şeyma Öztürk, the lawyer for the grieving family, said in her statement, "Ece Naz was staying at one of her friends' houses with 3 friends. While they were preparing breakfast, she was shot in the head and killed by one of her friends. In our opinion, it is not entirely clear who fired the shot in this incident. Ece Naz had 3 friends with her. Even though one of them confessed to the crime in the statements taken, when we examine the file and look at the evidence collected and not collected, it is not clear who shot Ece Naz. On July 1, 3 people who were in the same house as Ece Naz were arrested. However, here, only one of the perpetrators was arrested for intentional killing, while the others were arrested under Law No. 6136. In our opinion, this is not lawful. Because when we look at the file, we see that no evidence has been fully collected. Therefore, we believe that the arrest decisions given are unlawful and erroneous."
"HE CLAIMS HE SHOT HER BY ACCIDENT" Öztürk, reporting that there are currently 2 suspects in custody in the file, said, "One of the detainees is the person named S. C. G., who claims in his statements that he shot Ece by accident. He is in custody for intentional killing. The other detainee is Y. O., who was in the same house and is listed in the file as the owner of the unlicensed gun. He is only in custody under Law No. 6136, that is, for possessing an unlicensed gun. The prosecutor's office did not consider Y. O. a suspect for the crime of manslaughter. Legal proceedings were carried out only against S. C. G. for this crime. The person arrested on July 1 and released on July 30 is A. A. She was also arrested under Law No. 6136. However, on July 30, she was released on the grounds that the evidence had been collected and is currently under house arrest. There is a serious contradiction in the file here."
At the beginning of the incident, S. C. G. was arrested for murder, and Y. O. and A. A. were arrested under Law No. 6136. Later, while a decision was made to continue Y. O.'s detention, it was stated that 'the evidence has not yet been collected.' On the same day, in the release decision regarding A. A., it was stated that 'the evidence has been collected.' One decision says the exact opposite of the other," he said.
"AS IF SOMEONE PULLED HER HAIR OUT AND LEFT IT THERE" Attorney Öztürk, referring to the evidence in the kitchen, continued as follows:
"There are striking findings in the kitchen where the incident is alleged to have occurred. We say 'alleged' because we also have serious doubts about the location where the event took place. According to the claim, Ece Naz was frying potatoes while preparing breakfast with her friends. On the stove, there is a pot of potatoes, and next to it, a plate where the fried potatoes would be placed. Additionally, there is a shelf above the stove, under the extractor hood. It is claimed that Ece Naz was shot in the head while frying potatoes. However, at the scene, there are not just one or two strands of hair; it looks as if someone pulled out Ece Naz's hair and left it on the pot. There is a clump of hair on top of the pot. Similarly, there is a clump of hair on the plate where the potatoes would be placed. In the extractor area, there is another strand of hair at a height that could match Ece Naz's height. All the hair at the scene is blonde. A. A.'s hair is not blonde. The blonde hair belongs only to Ece Naz. We think these hairs may have been pulled out as a result of a struggle or scuffle. However, there is no data in the file regarding how these hairs were formed or how they fell at the scene."
"I FIRED FROM CHEST HEIGHT, IT HIT HER HEAD" Continuing his assessments regarding the day of the incident, Öztürk said, "After Ece Naz was shot, she appears to have fallen backwards from in front of the stove, between the table behind her and the stove, with her legs bent. Of course, experts will evaluate this in the best way. From what angle she was shot, and whether such a fall is possible, should be examined by forensic experts. We have also submitted a petition on this matter. We are requesting an investigation into whether the statements of S. C. G., A. A., and Y. O. are consistent with the findings at the scene. Because S. says, 'I fired from my left side at chest height, and then the bullet hit her head.' In such a case, it should be investigated whether it is possible for a person shot from the left side to fall backwards in that manner with bent legs at the scene. However, there is not yet any expert report prepared on this matter in the file. Immediately after the incident, all three were in a panic. The neighbors' statements confirm this. However, there are some contradictions between the statements at the police station and the verbal statements made immediately after the incident. Initially, it was said that S. shot her accidentally. But before this, there is information that S. verbally said, 'A. A. shot her.' This was not recorded in the official report. When the police asked A. A. about this, A. replied, 'I don't know why S. said that.' Later, in his written statement, S. said that while joking with the gun, it accidentally fired and hit Ece Naz. A. A., on the other hand, said he did not see the moment of the shooting, that he was sitting in the kitchen, and that S. and Ece Naz were joking, but he did not see the moment the gun was fired. Y. O. also stated that he was on a video call in the back room and did not see the incident," he said.
"HE SAYS HE DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO USE A GUN" Drawing attention to the contradictions in the statement of the suspect S. C. G., Öztürk said, "In his statement, the suspect says, 'I have never used a gun, I don't know how to use a gun.' However, in other statements in the file, it is stated that the suspect practiced shooting one or two weeks before the incident. It is even said that images of this were found on his phone. Since the phone examination has not yet been completed, the accuracy of this information cannot be confirmed at the moment. Additionally, some witnesses say that S. had previously fired a gun for entertainment purposes and knew how to use a pistol. Despite this, the suspect states in his statement that he does not know how to use a gun," he said.
"THE GUN STAYS WITH THE SUSPECT ALL NIGHT" Öztürk, stating that the unlicensed gun used in the incident belongs to Y. O., said, "However, the night before the incident, Y. O. gave the gun to A. A. The gun stayed with A. A. all night. So, even though the gun belongs to Y. O., A. A. also used it. We couldn't understand this anyway. A. A. says that when he left the house the night before the incident, he took the gun with him, saying, 'Something might happen to me.' So, this gun was used collectively. S. could also access this gun whenever he wanted. Because in the statements regarding the moment of the incident, it is said, 'The gun was on the nightstand, I went and took it.' Therefore, this is a gun that all three used collectively. That is our opinion," he said.
CLAIMS OF "JEALOUSY" AND "HOSTILITY" Öztürk, who claimed that there was a pre-existing hostility between Ece Naz and the suspect A. A., continued his words as follows:
"There are witness statements indicating that there was discord and a falling out between them. We will have these witnesses heard in the file as well. We are currently in the investigation phase. In our opinion, there could be complicity or the crime of aiding here. In fact, the person who fired the gun might not be S. C. G.; it could be A. A., or it could be Y. O. The reason could be jealousy. It could have been a momentary fight. When you look at Ece, she was a pretty, attractive young girl. Considering what the family has said, social media posts, and her general lifestyle, we can think that she might have been envied by A. A. or others. There may have been a scuffle between the parties before the incident, or an attack against Ece. At this stage, it is not possible to say anything definitive. Every possibility should be evaluated. The incident will become clear after all reports come to the file and all evidence is collected. The neighbors did not hear any sounds of a scuffle that night. According to the camera footage, they arrive home quite late. If I remember correctly, they enter the house around 02:00 at night. The neighbors also state that they did not hear any fight sounds after the incident. However, this does not mean there was no scuffle. Because the incident happened very quickly. According to the market footage, Ece Naz goes to the market about 20 minutes before the incident. They buy breakfast items, and they buy the potatoes at that time as well.The incident seems to have lasted approximately 10-15 minutes. Therefore, the fact that the neighbors did not hear any sounds does not necessarily mean that no altercation took place," he said.
"NO REASON CAN JUSTIFY THIS" Demanding that the deficiencies in the investigation be addressed, Öztürk concluded his statement as follows:
"In an incident involving three suspects, we truly find the release of one person within a month to be against the law. There is a young girl who lost her life. No reason, no justification, no excuse can justify the murder of Ece Naz. Therefore, we believe that the wrongful practices in the investigation should be reversed, the incomplete examinations should be completed, and both Y.O. and A.A. should be arrested not only under Law No. 6136 but also for the crime of intentional homicide. I hope that the necessary examinations will be conducted in line with the evidence we have presented, and a decision will be made accordingly."
