Kremlin Spokesperson Peskov stated that they are open to resuming negotiations under Turkey's mediation for the resolution of the Ukraine crisis and expressed gratitude to the Turkish side.
Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said they are open to resuming negotiations on resolving the Ukraine crisis under Türkiye's mediation, stating, "We are grateful to the Turkish side."
Peskov made assessments on current issues to journalists in the capital Moscow.
"WE ARE GRATEFUL TO THE TURKISH SIDE"
Responding to the question, "Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced that Ankara will continue to organize negotiations between Russia and Ukraine and maintain its diplomacy toward resolving the issue. How does the Kremlin assess the possibility of resuming negotiations on Ukraine through Türkiye's mediation?" Peskov said:
"We know that our Turkish friends are ready to continue efforts for a peaceful resolution of the situation regarding Ukraine. We are grateful to the Turkish side in this regard. At the moment, there is no expectation for the resumption of the negotiation process in the short term. We have not recorded such an expectation. However, the Russian side is open to this path."
"IT'S IMPORTANT TO HAVE SOMEONE WHO WILL END THE OPERATION"
Assessing the changes in the Ukrainian government, Peskov said, "These changes are of no importance to us. What matters is resolving the issue and securing our interests."
Regarding the possibility of a change in Ukraine's Defense Minister, Peskov stated, "It doesn't matter who becomes defense minister. What is important is having someone in the Kiev administration who will take responsibility, make necessary decisions, and ensure a peaceful resolution and the end of the special military operation."
"THE MIDDLE EAST AND THE UKRAINE ISSUE ARE DIFFERENT"
Pointing out that the Middle East and Ukraine issues are not similar, Peskov said, "Each issue has a highly complex structure. Many problems cannot be resolved through agreements. This is a very long, complex, and comprehensive process. That process is the only thing that can help find a solution."
