TV100 main news anchor Kübra Par apologized for the live broadcast incident she experienced last night, saying, "Yesterday, for a moment, I lost my composure. When the theme music started, I thought we had gone off the air and behaved in a way that is completely uncharacteristic of me. I apologize."
Here is the statement made by Kübra Par:
"Today is a difficult day for me…
I want to start our broadcast with an apology, not as a journalist, but as your sibling, someone from your family.
Yesterday, I made a big mistake while closing our broadcast.
I am very embarrassed…
I stand before you with this embarrassment…
Television requires attention and care.
In live broadcasts, we must act with the responsibility of being in front of you at every moment we are in this studio.
In this profession, to which I have dedicated my years, I have always tried to act with this awareness.
However, yesterday, for a moment, I lost my composure. When the generic music started, I thought we had gone off the air and behaved in a way that does not suit me at all.
It did not suit me at all…
So why did I do such a thing?
For a few days, we had been going out a couple of minutes late from the Main News, and we were entering the broadcast slot of the Alfa Petek Competition Program. During the break, we joked about this with our director and made a bet. At the end of the news, the generic started, and he made a joke to me. Thinking we had gone off the air on time, I made a joke to him. Those moments were caught on camera.
I am questioning myself about how I made this mistake.
There were reactions, and I understand them as well.
Moreover, the fact that a shameful situation was given different meanings increased my sadness even more…
As I said, what I did had nothing to do with the content of the broadcast or yesterday's agenda.
I am sorry that it was interpreted this way.
The fundamental rules of journalism are clear. The principles regarding how recorded and unrecorded conversations should be conveyed are also clear.
Barış Pehlivan's call to the expert without indicating that the conversation was being recorded, as if trying to trap him, was against the fundamental principles of journalism.
We discussed this with our team yesterday. While reporting the detention news during the broadcast, I specifically stated that the conversation was unrecorded. I read the official statements made.
For this reason, while closing the broadcast, I emphasized that we needed to adhere to the fundamental principles of journalism.
Those who have been watching me for all these years know that I would never engage in such a rudeness intentionally and related to the broadcast.
I am sorry for occupying the public agenda with something related to myself…
I apologize to all of you and to all our team members who contributed to this broadcast."
