The translation of the Kurdish statement made by Pinyanish Tribe leader Orhan Piruzbeyoglu following his meeting with Devlet Bahceli sparked controversy. While it was claimed that Bahceli used the phrase "four parts of Kurdistan," Piruzbeyoglu corrected these remarks, stating that a translation error had been made. Piruzbeyoglu emphasized that Bahceli's words were directed at the "Terror-Free Zone" perspective covering Turkey, Iraq, Syria, and Iran.

The leader of one of Hakkari's prominent and deep-rooted tribes, the Pinyanish tribe, Orhan Piruzbeyoglu, made a statement in Kurdish after his visit to MHP Chairman Devlet Bahceli, which turned into a translation crisis. Following claims that spread rapidly on social media, Piruzbeyoglu released a detailed statement in Turkish to clear up public misunderstandings.

TRANSLATION ERROR CAUSED CRISIS

The main agenda items of Orhan Piruzbeyoglu's meetings at the MHP headquarters were the ongoing Terror-Free Turkey process, the potential effects of this process on the region, and the expectations of the local people. After the meeting, Piruzbeyoglu's evaluations to the press in Kurdish caused a huge uproar on social media due to discrepancies during translation. In the claims put forward, it was alleged that Bahceli used the phrase 'It is for the four parts of Kurdistan' regarding the law and the process.

TURKISH CORRECTION STATEMENT FROM PIRUZBEYOGLU

As these claims that made headlines and the translation crisis grew, tribal leader Piruzbeyoglu sent a statement in Turkish to Rudaw, based in Northern Iraq. Stating that serious meaning shifts occurred during the translation from Kurdish to Turkish, Piruzbeyoglu said that Bahceli's statements were distorted. In the statement, it was noted that Bahceli's main emphasis went beyond the 'Terror-Free Turkey' goal, pointing to a broader 'Terror-Free Region' perspective that includes Iraq, Syria, and Iran.

Drawing attention to the growing stability in the region and that state policies would be implemented decisively in this direction, the full official statement shared by Piruzbeyoglu to correct misunderstandings is as follows:

"SOME EXPRESSIONS UNDERWENT MEANING SHIFTS AND CAUSED MISUNDERSTANDINGS"

"During the translation of the interview conducted in Kurdish into Turkish, a discrepancy occurred in the translation of some expressions that caused a meaning shift, and this situation led to misunderstandings in the public.

The point stated by Mr. Devlet Bahceli is that the 'Terror-Free Turkey' goal is part of a broader 'Terror-Free Region' perspective that also includes our neighbors Iraq, Syria, and Iran.

Mr. Bahceli stated that necessary state policies will be implemented decisively to ensure the peace, brotherhood, and stability of the region; that significant progress has been made in Iraq and Syria in this direction, and that stability is increasingly strengthening.

He also stated that with the end of conflicts in Iran, their greatest desire is for peace, brotherhood, and stability to become permanent across the four countries: Turkey, Iraq, Syria, and Iran.

We kindly request that the public take into account this translation difference that emerged during the transfer of the interview into Turkish when making their evaluations."
