Bilecik's famous camel-tooth pomegranate, which attracts buyers from all over Turkey, brings smiles to producers during the harvest season. The product unique to İnhisar district stands out with its large grains and sweetness, while this year's expectation of a high yield comes to the fore.

LARGE-GRAINED AND THIN-SKINNED! BUYERS COME FOR THIS POMEGRANATE

The camel-tooth pomegranate grown in Bilecik's İnhisar district differs from other pomegranate varieties with its unique characteristics. Preferred for being large-grained, juicy, sweet, and thin-skinned, the product constitutes one of the important sources of income for producers in the region. In pomegranate cultivation, season preparations begin every year in April with the pruning of the trees. The fruits ripen on trees that are regularly irrigated, hoed, and supported with organic fertilizer throughout the summer. The harvest, which begins in October, continues until December. The harvested pomegranates are sold mainly to buyers from Istanbul, Ankara, Bursa, Sakarya, and Kütahya.

MAYOR ANNOUNCED: 10 THOUSAND TONS OF YIELD EXPECTED

İnhisar Mayor Nihal Arslan stated that the camel-tooth pomegranate is one of the most important agricultural products of the district. Arslan, who announced that they expect a yield of 10 thousand tons this year, described the product's characteristics with these words: "This product is our source of livelihood. The camel-tooth pomegranate is unique to us. The characteristic of our pomegranate comes from its soil. First class, large-grained, juicy, and very sweet. Because its skin is thin, it does not last long, but the most beautiful pomegranate is our pomegranate." Arslan emphasized that the pomegranate cannot last long due to its thin skin, but it stands out with its flavor.

THE HEART OF POMEGRANATE PRODUCTION IN BİLECİK BEATS IN İNHİSAR

Bilecik Governor Faik Oktay Sözer attended the Pomegranate Festival held in İnhisar together with the provincial protocol. Speaking at the festival, Sözer drew attention to Bilecik's agricultural production potential and announced that 4,730 tons of pomegranates were produced on 2,867 decares of land throughout the province. Of this production, 4,514 tons are carried out in İnhisar district with a production area of 2,748 decares. Sözer drew attention to the farmers' labor and used these statements: "These figures clearly show us that the heart of pomegranate production in Bilecik beats in İnhisar. Of course, behind this success are not only our fertile lands; there are our farmers who give life to the soil with their sweat and produce with patience and dedication."

POMEGRANATE MOLASSES, JAM, SOAP, AND COLOGNE ARE PRODUCED

The pomegranates grown in İnhisar are not consumed only as fresh fruit. Narinhisar Women's Initiative Production and Business Cooperative ensures that the region's famous pomegranate is utilized by transforming it into different products. At the cooperative, pomegranate molasses, jam, sour sauce, soap, and cologne are produced. Thanks to these products, the use area of the pomegranate expands while contributing to local production.
